Job Description
Presiding Election Official are responsible for:
- The candidate will be responsible for supervising the setting up and closing of the voting place.
- The candidate will be responsible for supervising election officials, overseeing the general conduct of the voting place, ensuring all tasks are completed properly, and ensuring compliance with election procedures and rules.
- The candidate will be responsible for dealing tactfully and courteously with the public.
- The candidate will be responsible for picking up equipment and supplies from election headquarters on the day before general voting day, returning them to election headquarters at the close of voting, and setting up and closing the vote tabulator.
- The candidate will be responsible for maintaining contact with election headquarters throughout the day.
- The candidate will be responsible for performing the duties of Election Officials as required.
Deputy Presiding Election Official are responsible for:
- The candidate will be responsible for supervising the setting up and closing of the voting place.
- The candidate will be responsible for supervising election officials, overseeing the general conduct of the voting place, ensuring all tasks are completed properly, and ensuring compliance with election procedures and rules in the voting place.
- The candidate will be responsible for dealing tactfully and courteously with the public.
- The candidate will be responsible for operating the vote tabulator throughout the day.
- The candidate will be responsible for maintaining contact with election headquarters throughout the day.
- The candidate will be responsible for performing the duties of Election Officials as required.
Advanced Presiding Election Official are responsible for:
- The candidate will be responsible for supervising the setting up and closing of the voting place.
- The candidate will be responsible for supervising election officials, overseeing the general conduct of the voting place, ensuring all tasks are completed properly, and ensuring compliance with election procedures and rules in the voting place.
- The candidate will be responsible for dealing tactfully and courteously with the public.
- The candidate will be responsible for picking up equipment and supplies from election headquarters the day before, returning them to election headquarters at the close of voting, and setting up and closing the vote tabulator.
- The candidate will be responsible for operating the vote tabulator throughout the day.
- The candidate will be responsible for maintaining contact with election headquarters throughout the day.
- The candidate will be responsible for performing the duties of Election Officials as required.
Job Requirements
- The candidate must arrange their own transportation to and from the voting place.
- The candidate must attend a mandatory training session.
- The candidate should have excellent written and verbal English communication skills, be able to interact effectively with voters, clearly explain election procedures, and understand and follow written instructions and checklists.
- The candidate should have excellent organizational skills and a high level of attention to detail.
- The candidate should have proficient computer skills.
- The candidate should have knowledge of and experience with the election process, as this will be considered an asset.

Work conditions
- The candidate must remain at the voting place throughout the assigned shift.
- The candidate must provide their own non-perishable meals and beverages, as access to microwaves and refrigerators may not be available.
- The candidate must be able to sit or stand for extended periods during the workday, which may last approximately 14 hours.
- The candidate will be required to work throughout the day in a school gym or Community Hall.
- The candidate may wish to bring a cushion to sit on and layers of clothing during the workday.
