Job Description
- The candidate must promote department initiatives and events and support the development of branding.
- The candidate must develop and maintain communications standards that reflect corporate policies.
- The candidate will develop annual communications strategies and supporting collateral.
- The candidate will develop research tools and strategies to ensure communications are targeted and results-oriented and evaluate their effectiveness.
- The candidate will develop and implement performance measures to evaluate the effectiveness of communications strategies.
- The candidate will develop a web strategy that reflects corporate policies and City standards and will be responsible for the content and design of web home pages, excluding specific pages on kelowna.ca.
- The candidate will coordinate and maximize media relations with the Supervisor, including news releases and media events.
- The candidate will coordinate Mayor and Council attendance at departmental events, including preparing backgrounders and speaking notes when required.
- The candidate will coordinate public consultation and communication activities for new and existing facilities or events.
- The candidate must collaborate with clients to establish work priorities.
Job Requirements
- The candidate must hold a degree in Communications.
- The candidate must have at least 4 years of experience in strategic and collaborative communications projects, media relations, issues management, and social media.
- The candidate should have experience with web content management, design software, and digital engagement tools, which will be preferred.
- The candidate must demonstrate strong computer expertise.
- The candidate must demonstrate innovative thinking.
- The candidate must demonstrate strong decision-making skills.
- The candidate must demonstrate strong project management skills.
- The candidate must demonstrate a strong sense of responsibility and accountability.
- The candidate must demonstrate excellent communication skills.
