Job Description

  • The candidate will be responsible for operating and maintaining delivery vehicles, including vans and 5-ton rated trucks with cargo boxes and power tailgates, to deliver and pick up mail from customers according to established routes and schedules.
  • The candidate will be responsible for performing daily and weekly safety checks on vehicles and operating equipment.
  • The candidate will be responsible for confirming that mail volumes and classifications are accurately recorded on mail tickets and signing off for mail received.
  • The candidate will be responsible for providing customer service at mail pickup sites by responding to inquiries and requests.
  • The candidate will be responsible for accurately classifying and sorting mail items such as letters, flats, packages, and parcels for further processing using mailing machines, automated shipping systems, or manual waybills and manifests.
  • The candidate will be responsible for preparing and packaging various types of materials for distribution according to established processing guidelines and instructions.
  • The candidate will be responsible for stacking and shrink-wrapping pallets for loading onto delivery vehicles and unloading pallets and metal cages from delivery vehicles.
  • The candidate will be responsible for accepting receipt of branch or customer-supplied materials and delivering them to assigned storage or inventory areas.
  • The candidate will be responsible for operating production equipment such as forklifts, electric pallet jacks, letter openers, and floor scales.
  • The candidate will be responsible for preparing documents for scanning by removing them from file backers and removing staples, paper clips, and post-it notes.
  • The candidate will be responsible for operating high-speed scanners to scan customer documents, ensuring scanners are configured to equipment specifications, including calibration of document sensors, document feeders, and post-scan imprinters.
  • The candidate will be responsible for verifying that documents have been scanned or faxed correctly, checking scanned data on a personal computer using specialized data verification software, making corrections to inaccurate scanned data when required, and ensuring scanned documents and data remain secure within the scanning services area.
  • The candidate will be responsible for batching data and documents according to document type and filing them as per customer requirements, with strong attention to detail to ensure the correct data is returned to the customer.
  • The candidate will be responsible for filing BC Mail Plus documents in accordance with ARCS and ORCS procedures and preparing items for offsite storage.
  • The candidate will be responsible for organizing materials and supplies within the production facility and performing general housekeeping duties.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate must have a Grade 12 diploma or equivalent qualification.
  • The candidate must hold a valid Class 5 driver’s licence with an excellent driving record and a clean driver’s abstract.
  • The candidate must have experience providing customer service.
  • The candidate must have experience in keyboarding, data entry, word processing, creating spreadsheets, and working with standard computer applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • The candidate must have experience using operating equipment such as hand and power pallet jacks, electric forklifts, delivery vehicles, mailing machines, and electronic scales.
  • The candidate must have experience using personal computers, multifunctional devices (MFD), handheld scanners, and high-speed production scanners.
  • The candidate must have strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • The candidate should be located in British Columbia at the time of employment.

Work conditions and physical capabilities

  • The candidate must be physically fit and able to lift heavy items up to 30 kg, including mail bags and parcels, using proper lifting techniques.
