Job Description 

  • Candidates working in this post are appointed to identify necessary studies to be conducted by the development community to further review and mitigate the safety impacts of proposed developments on the municipality and its citizens. 
  • They’re also appointed to validate studies through internal review utilizing appropriate tools and consultation with other departments.

Job requirement

  • Candidates must attain a university degree in planning, engineering, environmental studies, public or business administration or a suitable equivalent to be eligible for this post. 
  • They must have a minimum of six 6 years of experience in a municipal environment to be eligible for this post. 
  • They must attain extensive working knowledge of related applicable legislation, practices and principles of emergency planning, land use planning and public safety.
  • They must attain the ability to communicate complex information to a variety of audiences and engage in consultation processes. 
  • Candidates must have dedicated knowledge of United Nations Disaster Risk Reduction or making Cities Resilient objectives to be eligible for this post. 
  • Candidates must attain a dedicated sound knowledge of emergency management principles and theory, including hazard identification and risk assessment.
  • They must have dedicated knowledge of processes prescribed under the Environmental Assessment Act.
  • Candidates must attain excellent verbal communication and presentation skills to be eligible for this post. 

Work setting 

  • Candidates must attain an understanding of Ontario’s Provincial Planning regime including the Planning Act, the Provincial Policy Statement, Provincial Plans and the Regional Official Plan.
