Job Description

  • The candidate must prepare reports and case histories.
  • The candidate must assess clients’ needs and determine their eligibility for specific services.
  • The candidate must perform administrative duties.
  • The candidate must conduct life skills workshops.
  • The candidate must develop, coordinate, and implement the delivery of specific community services.
  • The candidate must carry out housekeeping tasks.
  • The candidate must prepare meals and snacks.
  • The candidate must manage and resolve conflict situations.
  • The candidate must supervise children’s visits with parents to ensure their safety.
  • The candidate must maintain program statistics for evaluation and research purposes.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate should be fluent in the English language.
  • The candidate must have a College, CEGEP, or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years, or equivalent experience in human services, social work, or youth services/administration.
  • The ideal candidate will have at least 2 to 3 years of experience in a related industry.
  • The candidate must be able to supervise 5 to 10 people.
  • The candidate must have the following certifications: Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST), Emergency Child Care First Aid and CPR, Mental Health First Aid, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI), First Aid, CPR, and Food Safety.
  • The candidate must be able to handle a weight of up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
  • The candidate should be accurate.
  • The candidate should have efficient interpersonal skills.
  • The candidate must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • The candidate must be interpersonally aware.
  • The candidate should have good judgmental skills.
  • The candidate should give importance to values and ethics.
  • The candidate should be client-focused.
  • The candidate must be capable of acting on their initiative.
  • The candidate should be a good team player.
  • The candidate must be well-organized.

Work site environment

  • The candidate will work in environments that address personal and social adjustment and health issues—such as substance abuse, gambling, and behavioural disorders—socio-economic challenges including housing, nutrition, unemployment, and financial assistance, early intervention programs for at-risk youth, and services for pregnant teens and individuals experiencing homelessness.

Work setting

  • The candidate must work in a group home.
  • The candidate should work in a community agency to help build an inclusive environment that makes residents feel integrated and empowered.
