Job Description

  • The candidate will be required to adjust, repair, or replace commercial transport truck system parts and components.
  • The candidate will be expected to inspect and test mechanical units in order to identify faults and malfunctions.
  • The candidate must inspect motors in operation, drive motor vehicles, and test automotive systems and components.
  • The candidate will be required to adjust, repair, or replace automotive system parts and components.
  • The candidate will be required to adjust, repair, or replace truck-trailer system parts and components.
  • The candidate will be required to diagnose faults and malfunctions and confirm findings with the supervisor in order to determine whether the unit should be repaired or replaced.
  • The candidate must repair or replace mechanical units or components.
  • The candidate will be expected to test and adjust repaired systems in accordance with the manufacturer’s specifications.
  • The candidate must estimate the costs of parts and labour.
  • The candidate must perform scheduled maintenance service.
  • The candidate must test and adjust units to specifications.
  • The candidate will be expected to advise customers on work completed and future repair needs.
  • The candidate must complete reports to record problems and work performed.
  • The candidate will be responsible for coaching and instructing apprentices.
  • The candidate must review work orders and discuss work with the supervisor.
  • The candidate must provide excellent customer service.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate should be fluent in English language.
  • There are no standard education requirements such as a bachelor’s degree, a certificate, or a diploma.
  • Candidate having experience is an asset.
  • The candidate must have Automotive Service Technician Trade Certification, Tire, wheel and rim mechanic, Automotive Service Technician (Fuel and Electrical Systems) Trade Certification, Automotive Service Technician (Transmission) Trade Certification, Automotive Service Technician (Steering, Suspension and Brakes) Trade Certification, Motor Vehicle Repairer (Service Station Mechanic) Trade Certification, Truck and Transport Mechanic Trade Certification and Truck-Trailer Repairer Trade Certification.
  • The candidate must have completed Level 1 apprenticeship training, Level 2 apprenticeship training, Level 3 apprenticeship training, and Level 4 apprenticeship training.
  • The candidate should be accurate.
  • The candidate should be dependable.
  • The candidate should be reliable.
  • The candidate should be a good team player.

  • The candidate will be required to work in the shop.
