Fresh Choice Foods Distribution & Services based in Richmond, BC, is looking for candidates for the position of Meat Portion Cutter – Meat Packing Plant with 2 vacancies. The ones chosen to be employed will be required to start work as soon as possible. The job is LMIA approved. The vacancies refer to that of permanent employment and a full time job. The shift will extend from early morning to morning to day and the candidate may be required to work in the weekend as well.

Job description

  • The candidate will be required to remove bones from meat.
  • The candidate will be required to remove feathers.
  • The candidate will be required to remove singe.
  • The candidate will be required to wash poultry.
  • The candidate will be required to prepare the poultry for further processing.
  • The candidate will be required to prepare the poultry for packaging.
  • The candidate will be required to cut beef, lamb and pork.
  • The candidate will be required to veal carcasses or sides or quarters of carcasses into primal cuts.
  • The candidate will be required to prepare meat for further cutting, processing or packaging.
  • The candidate will be required to cut meat and poultry into specific cuts for institutional, commercial or other wholesale use.
  • The Work Setting is a meat processing or packing plant or establishment.
  • Relocation costs will be covered by the employer.
  • The Work Setting will be noisy with a lot of odors.
  • The candidate will be required to work in cold or refrigerated areas.
  • The candidate will be required to handle weight up to 23 kg (50 lbs).

Requirements

  • The candidate should have a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
  • No experience is required for the job as the candidate will be trained.
  • Public transportation is available for the candidate to use.
  • The candidate should have equipment and machinery handling experience.
  • The candidate should have experience in handling Stunning devices.
  • The candidate should have experience in handling Power cutting tools.
  • The candidate should have experience in handling Knives.
  • The candidate should have their own Steel-toed safety boots.
  • The candidate should own Gloves.
  • The candidate will be required to bring their own Mask.
  • The work will involve a combination of sitting, standing and walking which the candidate should be comfortable with.
  • The work will involve a bending, crouching and kneeling which the candidate should be comfortable with.
  • The candidate should be able to handle repetitive tasks.
  • The candidate should be able to handle heavy loads.
  • The work will be physically demanding and hence the candidate should be comfortable with it.
  • The candidate should pay attention to detail.
  • The candidate will be required to stand for extended periods and hence should be comfortable with it.
  • The candidate should be accurate.
  • The candidate should be a team player.
  • The candidate should have good hand-eye co-ordination.
  • Should know English.
