Job Description

  • The candidate must oversee a team of Regional Merchants who report directly to the Manager.
  • The candidate must inspire, coach, and guide team members to develop their skills and deliver on business priorities.
  • The candidate must support employee development plans and performance management activities.
  • The candidate must develop regional merchandising strategies and an omni-channel approach for the season (department and class), gathering cross-functional input from VM, Digital, and E-Comm teams to shape regional strategies.
  • The candidate must develop, create, and manage class strategies and assortment planning initiatives.
  • The candidate will be responsible for guiding the team to build assortments that ensure brand consistency, regional relevance, and strong performance across product classes, key items, and channels.
  • The candidate must provide insights to inform strategies such as store opening plans by country.
  • The candidate must lead the team in gathering and presenting regional insights across guests, products, and market trends.
  • The candidate will be responsible for meeting capacity targets aligned with guest profiles.
  • The candidate must work closely with Planning Leaders to execute seasonal regional buying strategies in line with global product and financial objectives.
  • The candidate must update and refine visual flow for the region based on assortment updates and changes.
  • The candidate must lead the team in the preparation and presentation of Buy Reviews, including strategies, investments, attributing, and flow.
  • The candidate must approve adopt and drop decisions submitted by the team based on assortment updates and changes.
  • The candidate must approve regional pricing product architecture submitted by the team.
  • The candidate must lead the team in validating buy accuracy, addressing minimum order quantity (MOQ) issues, and collaborating with Global teams to resolve Buy Ready concerns.
  • The candidate must partner with VM, Digital, and Store Planning teams throughout each buy cycle to support and execute regional strategies and initiatives.
  • The candidate must approve changes submitted by the team to targeted in-store dates and options to maximize flow.
  • The candidate must support OTB conversations and align with Planning on class targets.
  • The candidate must review business performance weekly, monthly, and seasonally, delivering recaps and action plans based on insights and inventory composition, including presenting colour hindsight and shareback to Senior Leaders and Global Merch.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate must hold a BA, BSc, BBA, BComm, or equivalent qualification, with specialization in Retail Management considered an asset.
  • The candidate must have a minimum of eight years of combined people management and industry experience in vertical retail and omni-channel environments.
  • The candidate must demonstrate proven experience in coaching, mentoring, and leading a team of direct reports.
  • The candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Office programs, advanced Excel functions, and merchandising software.
  • The candidate must have strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret multiple data points across various channels and market segments.
  • The candidate must demonstrate mastery of retail mathematics, including markup, margin, planning, open-to-buy, and inventory productivity.
  • The candidate must have the ability to balance analytical and creative tasks effectively.
  • The candidate must have a strong understanding of season-to-season business performance and the ability to drive business using key financial indicators.
  • The candidate must have an acute eye for product and color trends.
  • The candidate will be required to stay informed on macro lifestyle and fashion trends relevant to the wellness sector.
  • The candidate must have strong knowledge of the regional guest base to curate assortments for the geographic region.
  • The candidate must have the ability to enroll, lead, and influence key cross-functional partners.
  • The candidate must have strong written and verbal communication skills, along with the ability to present to Senior Leadership.
  • The candidate will be required to work independently while multitasking, prioritizing competing responsibilities, and operating effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • The candidate will be required to travel, both domestic and international, and support retail floor operations.
  • The candidate must acknowledge the presence of choice in every moment and take personal responsibility for their actions and decisions.
