Manager, Crisis Management

The Manager of Crisis Management is to steer the enterprise-level programme for managing crises and incidents at the corporate level for all Canadian operations of Canada Life. As a member of the enterprise-level crisis management team, you will work closely with all levels of the enterprise to facilitate the response to large scale emergencies and to establish and maintain crisis management plans.

Job Description

  • As a senior member of the first line of defense, this role is responsible for Enterprise-level Incident and Crisis Management.
  • This individual will create, manage and evolve the Crisis Framework for the Canadian Business of Canada Life.
  • This person will act as an expert on all aspects of Crisis Response using a Structured Crisis Management System and Methodology.
  • In High-Pressure and Time-Sensitive Crisis Situations, this person will provide Leadership and Facilitation.
  • This person will develop and help Maintain Crisis Related Documentation including Playbooks and Post Incident Reviews.
  • The Crisis Response Training and Exercises will be delivered to Key Stakeholders within the Organisation and Support Readiness Activities.
  • The Hybrid Work Schedule for this position includes a mix of Remote Work with an In-Office Requirement.

Responsibilities

  • Be available around the clock every day to offer help for crisis management if needed and to help the main facilitator(s) in handling the response.
  • In case you are the crisis management expert, then your role will be to make sure the response activities are done according to the established framework and best practices.
  • Assist with the development, maintenance, and modification of crisis plans, playbooks, documentation (including post-incident reviews) as a member of the organization.
  • Provide or support the training and awareness efforts for all staff involved with crisis and incident management.
  • Create and conduct crisis exercises for the purpose of improving organizational readiness.
  • Partner with business continuity teams and external resources to improve and grow the crisis management program.

Requirements

  • A combination of formal education and/or advanced, proven experience driving Emergency and Crisis Management processes.
  • The candidate should possess multiple years of direct experiential exposure to managing/lending support in direct response to large organization-wide emergencies/crises events (especially within a financially-regulated environment).
  • The candidate should have tangible evidence that they possess an expert-level understanding of Crisis Management Plan/Crisis Team Structure Planning.
  • Needed experience to possess the capability to gain influence from all levels of an organization through effective communication.
  • The candidate should also have completed an Advanced-Level Training or Certification within a form of a recognized Crisis Management Framework.
