Loss Prevention Clerk

The Loss Prevention Clerk will conduct security operations to monitor the warehouse which includes risk assessment and security risk response. You will execute three main tasks which involve watching store operations and solving incidents and writing down your findings. The position requires collaboration with management and law enforcement while maintaining knowledge of current policies and legal requirements.

Job Description

  • A security focused role aimed at preventing theft and protecting store assets
  • Based across the warehouse and surrounding areas with active monitoring duties
  • Includes observing activity and reporting risks or incidents
  • Involves working closely with management and external authorities
  • Follows company policies and legal procedures
  • May support other warehouse areas when needed

Responsibilities

  • Patrol the warehouse and surrounding area for long periods during shifts
  • Watch for suspicious behavior and stop theft when needed
  • Detain and question individuals involved in theft cases
  • Report internal theft concerns to management for further action
  • Identify areas where losses can be reduced and share findings
  • Create detailed records for incidents and investigations
  • Store and manage collected evidence properly
  • Appear in court when required for theft-related cases
  • Follow company rules and legal guidelines during all actions
  • Attend training sessions and meetings on loss prevention
  • Guide team members on safety and loss prevention practices
  • Share information about theft risks with nearby stores and team members

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or GED is considered beneficial for this role.
  • A valid Loss Prevention License is required as per provincial rules.
  • Previous work in loss prevention, including knowledge of theft and fraud laws, is considered valuable.
  • Understanding of laws such as the Criminal Code of Canada, Charter of Rights and Freedoms and Trespass Act and Privacy Acts is expected.
  • Strong observation, problem solving, and interaction skills are needed.
