Job Description

  • The candidate must be able to read and interpret blueprints.
  • The candidate will be in charge of watering and caring for plants, lawns, and/or gardens.
  • The candidate will be required to examine trees and shrubs in order to diagnose problems and disease.
  • The candidate will be required to perform various treatments such as pruning, spraying, repairing damaged areas, and injecting treatment solutions.
  • The candidate will be required to plant and move trees.
  • The candidate will be required to apply fertilisers, fungicides, herbicides, pesticides, and other lawn care products.
  • The candidate will be expected to plan and coordinate the growth and use of plants for landscaping, ornamental purposes, and other purposes.
  • The candidate will be expected to plant and maintain private and public lawns and gardens.
  • The candidate will be expected to assess the health of lawns.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate should be fluent in English language.
  • The candidate should have minimum qualification of Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience.
  • The ideal candidate will have at least 2 to 3 years of experience in a related industry.
  • The candidate should be a good team player with enough interpersonal and judge-mental skills.
  • The candidate should be organized and flexible in nature.
  • The candidate should have excellent oral and written communication skill.
  • The candidate should be client focused.
  • The candidate should be reliable.

Area of Specialization

  • The candidate should be knowledgeable about landscape construction, landscape design, and plant identification.

Work Setting

  • The candidate will be required to work for a lawn care company, a landscape contractor, a garden centre, a construction company, and a nursery – horticulture.

Security and Safety

  • The candidate should be bondable and easily communicate
  • The candidate should have clean driving record with no at-fault accidents or traffic citations.

Own Tools/Equipment

  • The candidate must wear steel-toed safety boots, safety glasses or goggles, and gloves.

Work Site Environment

  • The candidate should be willing to work in an outdoor environment for long hours, including tolerance for pests and thorns.

Transportation/Travel Information

  • The candidate should have valid driver’s licence.

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities

  • The candidate should be required to perform repetitive tasks on frequent basis.
  • The candidate should be required to handle heavy loads as part of routine work.
