Job Description

Architectural Design & Strategy

  • The candidate will be responsible for providing cloud design leadership to projects, application leads, and senior managers while ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture and cloud standards.
  • The candidate will be responsible for supporting end-to-end cloud architecture patterns that align with the organisation’s long-term cloud strategy.
  • The candidate will be responsible for translating complex business requirements into technical blueprints while ensuring they adhere to the Cloud Adoption framework.

Framework (CAF) and Well-Architected Frameworks

  • The candidate will be responsible for supporting Cloud Business Office-led assessments of cloud services (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS) to evaluate purpose, performance, and cost-efficiency.
  • The candidate must demonstrate awareness of possible technical debt in legacy applications and identify ways to reduce it.
  • The candidate will be responsible for ensuring solutions continue to support business outcomes and optimize cost.
  • The candidate will be responsible for evaluating emerging technology standards and participating in cloud roadmap and planning activities.
  • The candidate will be responsible for contributing to the evolution of enterprise Cloud architecture, shared services, and platform capabilities.

Migration & Implementation Support

  • The candidate will be responsible for supporting and guiding project teams throughout the initial cloud migration process.
  • The candidate will develop migration strategies, including Rehost, Re-platform, and Refactor approaches, for legacy on-premise applications.
  • The candidate will ensure that implementations are automated using Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) to maintain consistency and repeatability.
  • The candidate will work closely with solution vendors to support the development of integrated cloud solutions.

Governance & Quality Assurance

  • The candidate will be responsible for establishing architectural guardrails to ensure security, compliance, and data residency requirements are met.
  • The candidate will be responsible for conducting formal Architecture Design Reviews to identify risks early in the development lifecycle.
  • The candidate will be responsible for optimizing cloud consumption to ensure costs are managed according to Technology’s FinOps standard.

Mentorship & Capability Building

  • The candidate will be responsible for acting as a bridge between the Cloud Business Office and other Technology teams by simplifying complex concepts for stakeholders.
  • The candidate must develop and maintain technical documentation while recommending Cloud Service Catalogues to support governed self-service.
  • The candidate will be responsible for promoting a culture of continuous learning and standardisation across Technology.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate must have 10+ years of experience in an enterprise Information Technology environment, including at least 6 years focused on Cloud Solution Architecture and infrastructure design.
  • The candidate must have advanced technical experience with major cloud providers, including AWS and/or Azure.
  • The candidate must have strong knowledge of containerisation technologies, including Kubernetes and Docker, as well as serverless computing.
  • The candidate must have knowledge of and proficiency in IaC tools such as Terraform, Bicep, or CloudFormation.
  • The candidate must be familiar with CI/CD pipelines, including Atlassian JIRA, GitHub Actions, GitLab, or Azure DevOps.
  • The candidate must have a deep understanding of identity management (IAM), encryption, and network security within a public sector or regulated environment.
  • The candidate should have knowledge of enterprise integration and analytics platforms such as SAP BTP IS and Microsoft Fabric.
  • The candidate must have an exceptional ability to influence stakeholders through consultation to guide teams.
  • The candidate must facilitate complex conversations and build consensus across different perspectives.
  • The candidate must hold Azure Solutions Architect Expert and/or AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional certification.
  • The candidate with DevOps Engineering certifications for both Azure and AWS will be given preference.
