Job Description
- Front End Specialist is a full time position that develops and supports enterprise level web applications.
- The role is available as one permanent position and one temporary position lasting 12 months.
- This position is based at Metro Hall and follows a Monday to Friday routine of 35 hours each week.
- Hybrid work is not mentioned for this position.

Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain enterprise level front end applications.
- Build continuous integration and continuous development pipelines.
- Create accessible mapping applications using City standards.
- Work with cross functional teams to connect front end and back end systems.
- Apply security, privacy and quality standards to software solutions.
- Review the business and technical requirements and recommend some suitable solutions.
- Solve software issues and provide technical support.
- Lead project teams and guide application delivery through the full life cycle.
- Also prepare technical documentation, reports and presentations.
- Support software upgrades and improve common application frameworks.
- Use source code management systems for version control.
- Study new technologies and recommend improvements for digital services.
Requirements
- Have post secondary education in Computer Science or a related discipline or an approved equivalent combination of education and Work background.
- Have extensive Work background with application architecture, system integration, architecture diagrams, technical documents, risk assessments, digital accessibility compliance and QA or UAT feedback.
- Have extensive Work background developing Single Page Applications using HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, JQuery, Bootstrap, Backbone, React and REST APIs with JSON and XML.
- Have considerable Work background reviewing root causes of system outages and providing troubleshooting and debugging support.
- Have Work background developing or maintaining large scale information technology applications and working with multidisciplinary project teams.
- Have Work background developing digital products that meet WCAG 2.x AA, AODA and WAI ARIA accessibility standards across Web, iOS and Android platforms.
- Have strong interaction skills and can explain technical and business requirements clearly.
- Can work independently with minimal supervision and manage time well.
- Have excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills.
- Can work well with team members in a shared work environment.
- Can adapt to changing tasks in a fast paced workplace.
- Have strong organizing skills and close attention to detail.
