Job description
- Analyze general ledger accounts and prepare financial reports
- Assist in preparing the City’s annual consolidated financial statements
- Implement accounting standards such as PSAS
- Provide accounting guidance on complex transactions
- Develop financial models and data visualization tools
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual management reports
- Investigate issues raised by auditors and support audits
- Supervise support staff and assist with training and development
- Ensure compliance with financial controls and City policies
Job requirements
- Post-secondary education in a relevant field such as Commerce with a focus on Accounting
- CPA designation required
- Strong background in accounting or auditing or financial reporting
- Knowledge of PSAS and accounting standards
- Strong analytical thinking and problem solving abilities
- Familiarity with financial systems such as SAP or Oracle
- Can use Microsoft Office especially Excel
- Can manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Strong interaction skills across organizational levels
