Job Description
- The candidate will be in charge of handling animals.
- The candidate will be in charge of monitoring animal health.
- The candidate will be expected to plant, cultivate, and irrigate crops.
- The candidate will be in charge of stone and/or wood picking.
- The candidate will be in charge of weeding.
- The candidate will be in charge of harvesting crops.
- The candidate will be expected to feed and care for animals.
- The candidate must operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment.
- The candidate will have to milk cows.
- The candidate must clean stables, barns, barnyards, and pens.
- The candidate must detect disease and health issues in crops, livestock, and poultry.
- The candidate must be able to recognise and treat certain livestock health issues.
- The candidate will be expected to carry out general farm duties.
- The candidate must keep track of quality control and production records.
- The candidate must keep financial and production records.
- The candidate must create a feeding programme.
- The candidate must keep track of livestock performance records.
- The candidate will be expected to assist in the development and implementation of farm safety and bio-security procedures.

Work Site Environment
- The candidate will be required to work long hours in an outdoor environment.
- The candidate must be able to work in wet/damp, dusty and hot conditions.
- The work site environment is noisy, and the candidate must be able to work with complete concentration even in such conditions.
- The candidate must work in an environment with a high concentration of odours.
- The type of farm operation is potato and vegetable farming.

Experience and specialization
Equipment and machinery experience
- The candidate must have prior experience with a farm truck, forage equipment, haying equipment, a loader, planting equipment, tillage equipment, and a tractor.
Automated systems experience
- The candidate must have prior experience with automated bulk grain or feed handling, automated milking systems, automated environmental control equipment, manure handling and storage, feeding and watering system and storage and silage system.

- The candidate must have a valid driver’s licence.
