Job Description

  • The candidate will be responsible for cutting crops.
  • The candidate must mix the fertilizer.
  • The candidate must provide agricultural crop services such as plowing, irrigating, cultivating, spraying, and harvesting.
  • The candidate will be responsible for supervising and coordinating the work of general farm workers and harvesting labourers.
  • The candidate must ensure compliance with farm safety and biosecurity procedures.
  • The candidate will be responsible for hiring and training staff.
  • The candidate must perform general farm duties.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate should be fluent in the English language.
  • There are no standard education requirements, such as a bachelor’s degree, a certificate, or a diploma.
  • A candidate with experience is an asset.
  • The candidate must be able to supervise 11-15 people.
  • The candidate should be a good team player.

Work site environment

  • Farm operations include corn farming, hay farming, other grain farming, other miscellaneous crop farming, wheat farming, grain and oil crop production, livestock farming, and potato and vegetable production.
  • The candidate must work in a dusty environment.
  • The work site environment is noisy, and the candidate must be able to work with complete concentration even in such conditions.

Work setting

  • The candidate should work in a rural area; most people live or work on farms or ranches. Hamlets, villages, towns, and other small settlements are in or surrounded by rural areas.
  • The candidate should work from a remote location, as the practice of employees doing their jobs from a location other than a central office operated by the employer.
  • The candidate should work in a staff accommodation that offers live-in accommodation when an employer provides a housing offer to its employees.

Experience and specialization

Equipment and machinery experience

  • The candidate must have experience in operating fertilizer applicators, harvesters, seed drills, sprayers or dusters, storage and silage systems, tractors, vegetable or fruit harvesters, and forklifts.

Area of specialization

  • The candidate must specialize in the area of agricultural crop service.

Additional information

Work conditions and physical capabilities

  • The candidate must perform physically demanding tasks as part of their daily work.

Own tools/equipment

  • The candidate must have steel-toed safety boots and gloves.
