Job Description

  • The candidate will be responsible for diagnosing livestock health issues.
  • The candidate will be responsible for directing farm feed inventory.
  • The candidate must be able to handle animals.
  • The candidate must implement soil fertility programs.
  • The candidate will be responsible for monitoring the calving process.
  • The candidate must monitor animal health.
  • The candidate must be familiar with soil fertility programs.
  • The candidate must assist in the development and implementation of farm safety and biosecurity procedures.
  • The candidate must provide agricultural crop services such as plowing, irrigating, cultivating, spraying, and harvesting.
  • The candidate must carry out pasture or pen breeding programs.
  • The candidate will be responsible for supervising and coordinating the work of general farm workers and harvesting labourers.
  • The candidate must ensure that farm safety and biosecurity procedures are followed.
  • The candidate will be responsible for formulating a feeding program.
  • The candidate must maintain livestock performance records.
  • The candidate will be responsible for maintaining quality control and production records.
  • The candidate must supervise and oversee breeding and other livestock-related programs.
  • The candidate will be responsible for maintaining work records and logs.
  • The candidate must operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment.
  • The candidate must perform general farm duties.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate should be fluent in the English language.
  • There are no standard education requirements, such as a bachelor’s degree, a certificate, or a diploma.
  • The ideal candidate will have at least 2 to 3 years of experience in a related industry.
  • The candidate must be able to supervise 3 to 4 people.
  • The candidate must be well-organized.
  • The candidate should be a good team player.

Work site environment

  • Farm operations include beef cattle ranching and farming (including feedlots), hay farming, livestock combination farming, and livestock farming.
  • The candidate must work in a dusty and hot environment.
  • The candidate must work in an environment with a high concentration of odours.
  • The candidate will be required to work long hours in an outdoor environment.

Work setting

  • The candidate should work in a rural area; most people live or work on farms or ranches. Hamlets, villages, towns, and other small settlements are in or surrounded by rural areas.

Experience and specialization

Equipment and machinery experience

  • The candidate must have experience in operating automated irrigation systems, feeding and watering systems, fertilizer applicators, harvesters, seed drills, sprayers or dusters, tractors and forklifts.

  • The candidate must specialize in agricultural livestock service, agricultural crop service, and beef cattle.
