Facilities maintenance mechanic 

Air Canada has released a notice of hiring eligible candidates for the post of facilities maintenance mechanic. Candidates who are eligible and willing to join this post can apply for this post. They’re appointed at this post to identify, report, and escalate deficiencies and code violations noted during inspection, testing and maintenance activities using work order management systems or other approved centralized inspection programs. Job Description 

  • Candidates working in this post are appointed to conduct minor repairs of fire alarm systems, fire sprinkler systems, standpipes, clean agent systems and other fixed fire protection systems as required. 
  • They’re also appointed to prepare and maintain reports and inspection records on fire and life safety equipment and systems.
  • Candidates working in this post are appointed to monitor fire Communications and notify building operations staff and building occupants when the shutdown of Fire Protection systems is required to facilitate repairs and replacement.
  • They’re also appointed to arrange for repairs and/or alterations of the systems in conjunction with the Supervisor and the Property management team.
  • Candidates are also appointed to provide instruction to Building Maintenance on fire and life safety systems and operations.

Job requirement 

  • Candidates must attain a post-secondary education in Fire Protection Engineering Technology or an equivalent combination of education and experience to be eligible for this post. 
  • They must attain completion of a Canadian Fire Alarm Association certification or equivalent to be eligible for this post. 
  • They must attain experience conducting inspection, testing and maintenance on fire and life safety systems including fire alarm and fire sprinkler systems. 
  • They must attain experience with industrial and commercial building construction. 
  • Candidates must attain dedicated experience in building mechanical and electrical systems

Work setting 

  • They must have experience with Microsoft Office Suite, and CMMS work order systems and must possess a valid Province of Ontario Class G Driver’s license to be eligible for this post.
