Event Services Supervisor

City of Maple Ridge is located at Maple Ridge, BC. The company is currently looking for applications for the role of Event Services Supervisor. We are seeking a self-disciplined individual with exceptional interpersonal skills. The chosen applicant will be required to join and begin their duties as soon as possible. The position is offered on an auxiliary (exempt) employment basis.

Job Description

  • The candidate will lead front-of-house operations during performances and events.
  • The candidate will be responsible for supervising bar service and supporting food and beverage coordination.
  • The candidate will be responsible for supervising staff and volunteers during events.
  • The candidate must ensure all operations comply with liquor service, food safety, and health and safety regulations.
  • The candidate will prepare event reports, track inventory, and support cash handling and reconciliation.
  • The candidate will be responsible for maintaining excellent patron service standards and ensuring smooth event delivery.
  • The candidate must assist with bar operations when required.
  • The candidate must perform bartending and concession work, serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and related items before, during, and after performances, while providing courteous and efficient service.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate must have post-secondary education in hospitality, bartending, food services, volunteer management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • The candidate must have recent related experience in customer service, theatre front-of-house operations, hospitality, bar service, or restaurant service.
  • The candidate must hold a valid Serving It Right certification.
  • The candidate must hold Occupational First Aid Level 1 certification.
  • The candidate with Food Safe certification will be preferred.
  • The candidate must have experience supervising staff in hospitality, events, theatre front-of-house, bar service, or a similar environment.
  • The candidate must have strong customer service, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • The candidate must have knowledge of B.C. liquor service requirements and responsible beverage service practices.
  • The candidate must have experience with POS systems such as Square; ticketing system experience is considered an asset.
  • The candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Teams, Outlook, and Word.
  • The candidate must have the ability to plan, assign, schedule, monitor, and supervise a mid-sized team of staff and volunteers, including providing guidance and on-the-job training.

Work conditions and physical capabilities

  • The candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced event environment and make effective operational decisions.
  • The candidate will be required to work rotating bar shifts as needed, following established policies and procedures.
  • The candidate must be able to work approximately 10 to 15 hours per week.
