Job Description

  • Applicants are accountable at this post for reviewing site plans and landscape plans for development permits and building permits working at this post.
  • People who applied for this post are also appointed to perform field work related to tree-cutting permit applications, building permit applications, landscape inspections and Tree Protection Bylaw offences inspections working at this post.
  • Candidates are also appointed at this post for performing Tree Risk Assessments.
  • Applicants who applied for this post are required to review arborist reports and prepare and maintain expert reports, risk assessments and related documentation working at this post.

Job requirement

  • Candidates must attain a university degree or diploma in forestry, Arboriculture, Horticulture or a related field from an accredited post-secondary institution to be eligible for this post.
  • They must have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in arboriculture-related work, including experience in hazard tree assessment, to be considered as an asset for this post.
  • Candidates must be a Qualified Tree Risk Assessor from the International Society of Arboriculture.
  • They must be certified or eligible for certification as a “Certified Arborist” with the International Society of Arboriculture to be eligible for this post.
  • Applicants must have a valid BC driver’s license to be considered as an asset for this post.

Work setting

  • People must attain the ability to read and interpret surveys, plans, drawings and reports related to the work.
  • Candidates must have excellent working knowledge of related computer programs including but not limited to MS Word, MS Outlook, AMANDA, and ArcView to be eligible for this post.
