Job Description

  • The candidate will be responsible for leading and facilitating environmental incident investigations, coordinating the resourcing and work of the investigation team, compiling evidence to identify the causes of incidents, consulting subject matter experts when required, preparing investigation reports with input from the investigation team for distribution, acting as the Environmental Performance (EP) Investigation Lead and subject matter expert in the development of corrective action plans (CAP), consulting with CAP owners to obtain their acceptance, tracking and following up on progress with CAP owners when required, and auditing the effectiveness of corrective actions upon completion and implementation.
  • The candidate will manage environmental audit programs by preparing audit terms of reference (TORs), overseeing contract work, ensuring compliance with TORs, ensuring deliverables are met, and publishing final audit reports and corrective actions.
  • The candidate will be responsible for managing Environmental Compliance Evaluations (ECE) by providing input into the annual program, preparing ECE-related documentation, budgets, and terms of reference (TORs), coordinating resourcing and logistics for site visits, compiling evidence through interviews, documentation, and site observations, working with responsible managers to develop corrective action plans (CAPs) as required, preparing and distributing reports, and following up with CAP owners on progress when required.
  • The candidate will be responsible for ensuring technical data accuracy in the Environmental Incident Management System (EIMS) by reviewing environmental incident data for completeness, engaging with relevant parties to clarify and rectify discrepancies as necessary, and providing guidance to users on incident reporting and data input requirements to ensure data integrity.
  • The candidate will be responsible for serving as the Environment training program lead by maintaining training course inventory, content, and guideline requirements with Environment content owners and Training Services, ensuring changes in regulations or internal processes are updated in course content, leading course development projects to prioritize work, coordinating work with vendors and content owners, tracking workplans and budgets, and recommending solutions to resolve issues.
  • The candidate will be responsible for preparing and distributing environmental and business performance reports for management and enterprise-wide monthly communications on priority incidents and relevant messaging.
  • The candidate will be responsible for sustaining environmental data management and analytics by developing and maintaining databases, statistical spreadsheets, and analytical tools, participating in the development of data collection and analytical procedures and frameworks, and monitoring data collection and reporting processes to ensure consistency and standardization.
  • The candidate will be responsible for reviewing vendor and contractor invoices for accuracy, flagging discrepancies for correction, and pre-approving invoices for payment before management approval.
  • The candidate will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance of content and document management for environmental information guidelines and procedures, developing and maintaining documents, or working with Environment document owners to ensure content has been reviewed before publishing.
  • The candidate will be responsible for preparing and presenting complex and sensitive reports on assigned projects to senior managers, the Board, and other stakeholders.
  • The candidate will be responsible for identifying, gathering, evaluating, and recommending system and application improvements to enhance data collection and reporting, resolving user system issues, escalating issues to IT Support for resolution when required, and carrying out user acceptance testing to ensure functional and operational requirements are met.
  • The candidate will be responsible for performing duties of a minor nature related to the above responsibilities that do not affect the rating of the job.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate must hold a Diploma in Environmental Studies or a related discipline.
  • The candidate must have at least four (4) years of experience in an environmental job, including conducting environmental reporting, compliance audits, and incident investigations.
  • The candidate with an ISO 14001 Internal Auditor or Lead Internal Auditor Certification, or an ECO Canada Compliance Environmental Auditor or Environmental Management Systems Lead Auditor certification, will be considered an asset.
  • The candidate with demonstrated experience using reporting and data analytics tools or software will be considered an asset.
  • The candidate must hold a valid Class Five (5) driver’s license.
