Job Description

• The candidate must bathe, diaper, and feed infants and toddlers.
• The candidate will be responsible for maintaining the daycare equipment.
• The candidate will be responsible for storytelling.
• The candidate will be responsible for synthesizing the children’s overall situation and communicating the information to the parents.
• The candidate must assist early childhood educators in carrying out programs that promote children’s physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development.
• The candidate must lead activities such as telling or reading stories, teaching songs, and taking children to local points of interest.
• The candidate will be responsible for assisting early childhood educators or supervisors with record keeping.
• The candidate must engage children in activities by telling stories, teaching songs, and preparing crafts.
• The candidate must guide and assist children in developing proper eating, dressing, and toilet habits.
• The candidate must prepare snacks and set up rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods.
• The candidate must submit written observations of children to early childhood educators or supervisors.
• The candidate will be expected to discuss the children’s progress and problems at staff meetings.
• The candidate must attend staff meetings to discuss the progress and problems of the children.

Job Requirements

• The candidate should be fluent in English language.
• The candidate must have a College, CEGEP, or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 3 months to less than 1 year, or equivalent experience.
• The ideal candidate will have at least 2 to 3 years of experience in a related industry.
• The candidate must have Child Development Assistant (ECE level 1) certification.

Work setting

• The candidate must work in a child care centre, day care centre, or nursery school.
