Job Description

  • The candidate must measure, cut, fit, and install drywall sheets.
  • The candidate will be required to Cut and install metal corner beads to protect exterior corners
  • The candidate will be required to use a trowel and a broad knife to fill joints, nail indentations, holes, and cracks with joint compound.
  • The candidate will be required to use a taping machine to tape over joints and embed tape in compound.
  • The candidate will be required to fabricate and install suspended metal ceiling grids as well as place panels to form acoustical and coffered ceilings.
  • The candidate must smooth out excess compound and allow the coat to dry.
  • The candidate must apply multiple coats of compound and sand seams and joints.
  • In preparation for finishing work, the candidate will be required to skim the surface with a final layer of plaster.
  • The candidate will be responsible for managing and maintaining all job-related equipment.
  • The candidate will be expected to ensure that all equipment and materials are used in a safe and effective manner.
  • The candidate will be required to screw panels to a wood or metal framework.
  • The candidate must suspend angle iron grid and channel iron from the ceiling using wire.
  • The candidate must assemble and install metal framing and decorative trim for windows, doorways, and vents.
  • The candidate will be required to use hand tools to install horizontal and vertical metal or wooden studs for the attachment of wallboard on interior walls.
  • The candidate will be expected to read blueprints and other specifications to determine installation method, work procedures, and material and tool requirements.
  • The candidate must review design plans in order to reduce the number of cuts and waste of wallboard.
  • The candidate must lay out reference lines and points, compute the position of framing and furring channels, and mark the position with a chalk line.
  • The candidate will be expected to keep construction areas clean and organised in order to reduce the risk of hazards.
  • The candidate will be expected to remove all hazardous debris from construction sites.
  • The candidate must erect scaffolding and ladders in order to assemble structures above ground level.
