Job Description
- The candidate must drive lighter, special-purpose trucks.
- The candidate must load and unload goods.
- The candidate must operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials safely and efficiently.
- The candidate will be responsible for performing pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections, as well as overseeing all aspects of the vehicle.
- The candidate will be responsible for tarping and ensuring the safety and security of cargo.
Job Requirements
- The candidate should be fluent in the English language.
- The candidate must have a certificate of Secondary (high) school graduation.
- A candidate with experience is an asset.
- The candidate must have an Air Brakes Endorsement Certification, a DZ class license, an Air Brake (Z) Endorsement Certification, a Driver’s License (Class 3 or D), a Forklift Operator Certification, and a Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate.
- The candidate must be able to handle a weight of up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
- The candidate should have efficient interpersonal skills.
- The candidate must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
- The candidate should be organized and flexible.
- The candidate should be reliable.
- The candidate should be a good team player.
Experience and specialization
Documentation knowledge
- The candidate must be knowledgeable about accident or incident reports, bill of lading, driver logbooks and inspection reports (pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip).
Type of trucking and equipment
The candidate must have experience operating flatbed trucks and straight trucks (with a gross vehicle weight of 4,600 kg or more, or 10,000 lbs or more, and three or more axles).
Transportation/travel experience
- The candidate must have experience with transportation and travel at the local, provincial/territorial, and regional levels.

Security and safety
- The candidate must undergo a driver’s licence validity check, a driving record check (abstract), a drug test, and a medical examination to meet security and safety requirements.
