Job Description

• The candidate must have mountain driving experience.
• The candidate must have owner-operator business skills.
• The candidate will be expected to maintain professionalism in customer service.
• The candidate will be expected to plan travel, related itineraries, and make reservations.
• The candidate must drive lighter, special-purpose trucks.
• The candidate must obtain special permits and other documents required for international cargo transport.
• The candidate will be responsible for overseeing condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment.
• The candidate must perform brake adjustments.
• The candidate will be expected to perform pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections as well as oversee all vehicle aspects.
• The candidate will be responsible for receiving and relaying information to central dispatch.
• The candidate will be responsible for recording cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption.
• The candidate must complete detailed inspection documentation.

Job Requirements

• The candidate should be fluent in English or French languages.
• There are no standard education requirements such as a bachelor’s degree, a certificate, or a diploma.
• The ideal candidate will have at least 2 to 3 years of experience in a related industry.
• The candidate should have effective interpersonal skills.
• The candidate should have excellent oral communication skills.
• The candidate should be organised and flexible in nature.
• The candidate should have good judgemental skills.
• The candidate should be reliable.

Experience and Specialization

Type of Trucking and Equipment

• Trucking and equipment types include Roll-off truck, Concrete mixing, Dump truck, Flatbed, Hydrovac, Straight truck (4,600kg+ or 10,000lbs+ with 3+ axles) and Tow truck.

Communication Systems Experience

• The candidate must be able to use GPS (Global Positioning System) and other navigation devices.

Transportation/travel experience

• The candidate must be well-versed in International, Local, National, Provincial or Territorial, and Regional regions.
• The candidate should have prior experience running both long-distance and short-distance trips.

• The candidate must have a valid passport.
• The candidate must have a basic security clearance.
• The candidate must be bondable.
• The candidate should undergo a thorough driving record check (abstract), drug test, and medical exam.

Transportation/travel information

• The candidate must be able to drive a manual transmission vehicle.
