Job Description
- The candidate will establish inventory demand levels for assigned client groups by attending regular and ad hoc planning meetings, gathering and validating material requirements, analyzing forecasts against actual supply to identify gaps, and developing demand and supply plans. The candidate will also present findings, along with recommendations on material availability, to stakeholders.
- The candidate will be required to build and maintain strong working relationships with internal teams such as Purchasing, Category Management, and Material Supply Planning, as well as with external suppliers. This involves gaining a clear understanding of purchasing processes, vendor performance, and how forecasting requirements can be effectively integrated into inventory management practices.
- The candidate will be responsible for providing stipulations, guidelines and recommendations for negotiations to Purchasing, Contract Management, Material Supply Planning and Category Management.
- The candidate will be responsible for applying strategic knowledge of demand patterns and long-term projected material needs.
- The candidate will be required to work with third-party contractors, including Regionally Optimized Contracts (ROC) and civil contractors, representing the Material Management Business Unit and the organization. The candidate must ensure that commitments related to supply accuracy and service reliability are met.
- The candidate will be responsible for preparing and maintaining Demand Planning Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to track and evaluate performance.
- The candidate will be required to develop annual purchasing plans by incorporating client requirements and using tools such as statistical modelling, commodity and category trend analysis, supplier capacity information, manufacturing schedules, and market conditions that may impact material availability.
- The candidate will be responsible for identifying opportunities to improve supply chain processes, procedures, and guidelines, and providing input to management on operational challenges, corporate initiatives, and market constraints affecting procurement and material supply.
- The candidate may be required to procure materials of low to medium value by preparing competitive bid documents, evaluating supplier responses, conducting reference and financial checks, and negotiating contract terms such as penalties, incentives, KPIs, and early payment discounts.
- The candidate will be responsible for preparing and processing material requisitions within the supply chain management system.
- The candidate may be required to perform certain duties related to the Material Supply Planner role as needed.
- The candidate will be required to perform other related duties of a minor nature that do not affect the overall scope of the position.
Job Requirements
- The candidate must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Commerce, Finance, Accounting, Operations Management or Business Administration.
- The candidate must have three (3) years of demonstrated experience in materials forecasting, demand analysis, future demand planning or inventory planning/purchasing.
- The candidate must have a Diploma or Certificate in Supply Chain, Commerce, Finance, Accounting, Operations Management or Business Administration.
- The candidate must have five (5) years of demonstrated experience in materials forecasting, demand analysis, future demand planning or inventory planning/purchasing.
- The candidate may have completed relevant courses offered by the Supply Chain Management Association of Canada (SCMA), which are considered an asset.
- The candidate may have completed modules from Certified in Production & Inventory Management (CPIM) offered by APICS, which are considered an asset.
- The candidate may have experience with a supply chain management system such as SAP, which is considered an asset.
- The candidate must demonstrate strong communication and relationship management skills.
