Job Description

The candidate must operate and drive automobiles, vans, and light trucks to pick up and deliver various items and products.
The candidate will be expected to maintain professionalism in customer service.
The candidate must receive and relay information to central dispatch.
The candidate must handle and transport dangerous goods.
The candidate must load and unload goods.
The candidate must use maps and other trip planning tools.
The candidate must record all trip-related information, including mileage, fuel expenses, and any issues.
The candidate will be expected to perform pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections as well as oversee all vehicle aspects.
The candidate must keep track of all items received and delivered.
The candidate must drive lighter, special-purpose trucks.
The candidate must deliver and pick up messages, parcels, and other items by hand.
The candidate must operate and drive straight or articulated trucks in order to transport goods and materials.
The candidate will be responsible for tarping and ensuring cargo safety and security.
The candidate must oversee the condition of the vehicle and inspect the brakes, tires, lights, cold storage, and other equipment.
The candidate must sort packages.
The candidate must be able to follow directions and read maps.
The candidate must arrange travel, related itineraries, and make reservations.
The candidate will be responsible for recording cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption.

Job Requirements

The candidate must be bilingual.
There are no standard education requirements such as a bachelor’s degree, a certificate, or a diploma.
The ideal candidate will have at least 3 to 5 years of experience in a related industry.
The candidate must have a Class 5/5F/G licence (for cars, small trucks, and other 2-axle vehicles) and a DZ license.
The candidate must be able to lift up to 45 kg (100 lbs) and more than 45 kg (100 lbs).
The candidate should be client focused.
The candidate should have effective interpersonal skills.
The candidate should be organised and flexible in nature.
The candidate should have good judgemental skills.
The candidate should be reliable.
The candidate should be a good team player.

Computer and technology knowledge

The candidate must be able to use GPS (Global Positioning System) and other navigation devices.

The candidate must be knowledgeable about trip reports, maintenance and repair reports, inspection reports (pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip), dangerous goods occurrence reports, driver logbooks and bill of lading.

Transportation/travel experience

The candidate must have prior travel experience in both local and regional areas.
