Job Description

• The candidate will be responsible for calving.
• The candidate must be able to handle animals.
• The candidate will be responsible for weaning.
• The candidate must feed and care for animals.
• The candidate must operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment.
• The candidate must milk cows.
• The candidate must clean stables, barns, barnyards, and pens.
• The candidate must detect disease and health issues in crops, livestock, and poultry.

Job Requirements

• The candidate should be fluent in English language.
• There are no standard education requirements such as a bachelor’s degree, a certificate, or a diploma.
• Candidate having experience is an asset.

Work site environment

• Farm operations include corn farming, hay farming, livestock combination farming, oilseed (except soybean) farming, and soybean farming.
• The candidate will be required to work long hours in an outdoor environment.
• The work site environment is noisy, and the candidate must be able to work with complete concentration even in such conditions.
• The candidate must work in an environment with a high concentration of odours.
• The candidate must be able to work in dusty conditions.

Work setting

• The candidate must be willing to work in a rural area.
• The candidate must work in the dairy industry.

Experience and specialization

Equipment and machinery experience

• The candidate must have prior experience using hand tools.

Automated systems experience

• The ideal candidate must have prior experience with automated bulk grain or feed handling, automated milking systems, manure handling and storage, and storage and silage systems.

Security and safety

• The candidate should be subjected to a thorough criminal background check.

Transportation/travel information

• The candidate must have their own transportation.
• The candidate must have a valid driver’s licence.

Work conditions and physical capabilities

• The candidate should be required to perform repetitive tasks on frequent basis.
• The candidate should be required to handle heavy loads as part of routine work.
• The candidate should be prepared to perform physically demanding tasks as part of their daily work.
