Job Description

  • The candidate will perform clerical, cashiering, and receptionist duties while assisting members of the public.
  • The candidate will be responsible for handling recreation program registrations, facility admissions, bookings, activities, events, schedules, rentals, and fees.
  • The candidate will assist with registration and access to various programs and services.
  • The candidate will play a key role in ensuring the safety of patrons and the facility by supporting building security and monitoring security cameras.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate must have completed Grade 12, including or supplemented by courses in standard commercial subjects.
  • The candidate must have clerical experience, including cashiering duties.
  • The candidate with First Aid certification is preferred.
  • The candidate with an equivalent combination of training and experience is preferred.
  • The candidate must demonstrate sound knowledge of computer terminal and cash register operations.
  • The candidate must demonstrate sound knowledge of programs, room bookings, activities, and services offered by the Parks, Recreation and Culture Department.
  • The candidate must demonstrate good knowledge of modern office practices and procedures.
  • The candidate must be able to interact effectively and positively with the public while providing information and assistance.
  • The candidate must be able to receive remittances, process payments, make change, issue receipts, and balance cash accurately.
  • The candidate must be able to perform accurate data entry and related clerical tasks.
  • The candidate must be able to follow oral and written instructions and learn clerical tasks within a reasonable timeframe.
  • The candidate must be able to meet established Municipal standards.

Work conditions

  • The candidate may be required to work more than five (5) consecutive shifts in a week or more than thirty-five (35) hours per week without overtime compensation.
