Job Description

  • The candidate will be expected to help develop engineering specifications and drawings.
  • The candidate will be required to participate in field surveys, inspections, or technical investigations.
  • The candidate must prepare construction specifications, cost estimates, and material estimates.
  • The candidate must prepare engineering designs and drawings.
  • The candidate will be expected to create project timelines.
  • The candidate must supervise or conduct field surveys, inspections, technical investigations, and construction material testing.
  • The candidate must be able to read and interpret blueprints.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate should be fluent in English language.
  • The candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree.
  • The ideal candidate will have at least 2 to 3 years of experience in a related industry.
  • The candidate must be able to supervise 3 to 4 people.
  • The candidate must be certified by a provincial or territorial association and have knowledge of civil engineering technology (VT).
  • The candidate should be client focused.
  • The candidate should have effective interpersonal skills.
  • The candidate should have excellent oral and written communication.
  • The candidate must be capable of acting on their own initiative.
  • The candidate should have good judgemental skills
  • The candidate must be well-organized.
  • The candidate should be a good team player.

Work Site Environment

  • The candidate will be required to work long hours in an outdoor environment.

Work Setting

  • The candidate must be willing to relocate to the specified location.

Experience and Specialization

Computer and Technology Knowledge

  • The candidate should be familiar with Geographic Information System (GIS), 3D graphic software, AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Microsoft Word.
  • The candidate must be able to use GPS (Global Positioning System) and other navigation devices.

Civil Engineering Experience

  • The candidate should have experience with drainage and irrigation systems, as well as roads and highways.

Area of Specialization

  • The ideal candidate will have a background in construction design and supervision, as well as highways and transportation.
