Rykar Industries Ltd is located in Red Deer, AB T4P 1A8. The company is currently looking for applications for the Construction Cleaner role. Job Description

  • The candidate must sweep, mop, scrub, and wax hallways, floors, and stairs.
  • The candidate must be able to use industrial vacuum cleaners to remove scraps, dirt, heavy debris, and other waste.
  • The candidate must empty trash cans and other waste containers.
  • The candidate must clean windows, interior walls, and ceilings.
  • The candidate will be responsible for making minor adjustments and repairs to heating, cooling, ventilation, plumbing, and electrical systems and contacting tradespersons for major repairs.
  • The candidate must contact contractors for repairs and maintenance of the establishment.
  • The candidate will be responsible for performing minor repairs to appliances.
  • The candidate must perform security and safety checks.
  • The candidate must move heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies.
  • The candidate must perform other routine maintenance tasks such as painting and drywall repair.
  • The candidate will be responsible for watering and maintaining plants, lawns, and/or gardens.
  • The candidate must clean and disinfect bathrooms and fixtures.
  • The candidate must be able to work with minimal supervision.
  • The candidate must clear snow and ice from walkways and parking lots.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate should be fluent in the English language.
  • There are no standard education requirements such as a bachelor’s degree, a certificate, or a diploma.
  • The ideal candidate will have at least 7 months to less than 1 year of experience in a related industry.
  • The candidate must have a Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate and Forklift Operator Certification.
  • The candidate must be able to handle a weight of up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
  • The candidate should be dependable.
  • The candidate must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • The candidate should be organized and flexible.
  • The candidate must be capable of acting on their initiative.
  • The candidate should have good judgmental skills.
  • The candidate should be reliable.

Work site environment

  • The candidate must work in all weather conditions.
  • The worksite environment is clean.

Work setting

  • The candidate should work in commercial buildings where commercial activities occur, such as office buildings, retail spaces, and warehouses.
  • The candidate should work in an industrial facility or any establishment engaged in manufacturing or processing, including, but not limited to, factories, foundries, mills, processing plants, refineries, mines and slaughterhouses.

Experience and specialization

Area of work experience

  • The candidate must have work experience in the area of cleaning and production.

Equipment

  • The candidate must have experience operating industrial vacuum cleaners/power sweepers, polishing machines, steam cleaners, power tools, power lawn mowers, security systems, small tractors (lawn/snow removal attachments) and snowblowers.

  • The candidate should be subjected to a thorough criminal background check.

  • The candidate should be required to perform repetitive tasks on a frequent basis.

  • The candidate must be willing to work long hours in bending, crouching, and kneeling positions.

  • The candidate must have safety equipment/gear and steel-toed safety boots.
