Job Description
- Candidates working in this post are appointed to lead, develop, and support updates to regulations, policies, and incentives for building decarbonization and improving resilience through standards.
- They’re also required to act as a strategic program designer for new and existing buildings, in collaboration with the Building Division.
- People who applied for this post are accountable for integrating climate mitigation and adaptation in the updates of the Official Community Plan, Zoning Bylaw, and Neighbourhood Concept Plans in collaboration with Community Planning staff.
- They’re also accountable for providing general advice and expertise to inform community-scale renewable energy programs, including liaison with BC Hydro on supply and distribution considerations for electrification applied for this post.
- They must be able to coordinate with BC Hydro, report on work plan priorities and progress, and participate in training and events applied for this post.
Job requirement
- Candidates must have a master’s degree with a specialization in climate policy, sustainability, environmental science, environmental engineering, and resource management to be eligible for this post.
- Applicants must attain knowledge and experience in developing and implementing building decarbonization policies, strategies and programs to be considered as an asset for this post.
- They must have excellent interpersonal skills, including facilitation, collaboration, conflict resolution and relationship building to be eligible for this post.
- Candidates must attain the ability to work independently, effectively manage time, and deliver on commitments to be eligible for this post.
- They must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and must have demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills to be eligible for this post.
