Job Description
- The candidate will be responsible for maintaining the Legislative Building in a clean and orderly condition.
- The candidate will be responsible for providing floor care in offices, kitchenettes, and common areas through vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, and spot cleaning.
- The candidate will be responsible for conducting surface care in offices, kitchenettes, and common areas, including cleaning walls, furniture, windowsills, ledges, glass surfaces, blinds, and light fixtures.
- The candidate will be responsible for cleaning, disinfecting, sanitizing, and restocking washroom supplies.
- The candidate will be responsible for collecting and transporting garbage, recycling, and organic waste to designated collection areas.
- The candidate will be responsible for carrying out basic plumbing maintenance tasks, such as clearing blocked toilets and sinks, and notifying management of any repair needs.
- The candidate will be responsible for changing and laundering towels.
- The candidate will be responsible for setting up meeting rooms and cleaning them after meetings, special functions, and events, including removing dishes and glassware.
- The candidate will be responsible for locking and unlocking doors and operating lighting systems in consultation with the Legislative Assembly Protective Services team.
- The candidate will be responsible for performing project-specific cleaning tasks as assigned, including interior window cleaning, carpet cleaning, wall washing, and snow and ice removal, which may require the use of ladders.
- The candidate will be responsible for performing minor maintenance on cleaning equipment, including changing filters and bags and cleaning equipment surfaces to maintain a professional appearance.
- The candidate will be responsible for preparing detergents and cleaning solutions and ensuring the secure storage of cleaning supplies and stock items.
- The candidate will be responsible for reporting material usage, inventory levels, material conditions, and repair requirements to supervisors.
- The candidate will be responsible for identifying opportunities to improve energy efficiency and operational processes.
- The candidate will be responsible for maintaining a safe work environment by following established safety practices and reporting potential hazards.
- The candidate will be required to perform other related duties as assigned within the scope of the position.
Job Requirements
- The candidate must have a minimum of two years of work experience in commercial cleaning.
- The candidate who has completed Building Service Worker Levels 1โ3 courses will be considered an asset.
- Experience with floor care and cleaning, including the operation of floor cleaning equipment, is considered an asset.

- The candidate must be able to bend, reach, push, pull, and stand for extended periods of time.
- The candidate must be able to lift and carry up to 40 lbs regularly and more than 40 lbs on an occasional basis.
- The candidate must be able to operate related equipment as required.
