Job Description

• The candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children.
• The candidate must be knowledgeable about licensing regulations.
• The candidate must establish guidelines for behaviour.
• The candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining collaborative relationships with coworkers and community service providers who work with children and their families.
• The candidate must plan and maintain an environment that protects children’s health, safety, and well-being.
• The candidate will be responsible for planning and coordinating activities for school-aged children in child-care programs before and after regular school hours.
• The candidate must serve food and snacks.
• The candidate must evaluate curriculum programs and recommend improvements.
• The candidate must design and implement health and wellness projects or programs.
• The candidate must complete reports.
• The candidate must coordinate recreation activities.
• The candidate must be knowledgeable about food safety and handling procedures.
• The candidate must schedule activities.

Job Requirements

• The candidate should be fluent in the English language.
• The candidate must have completed a College or CEGEP program in elementary education and teaching, early childhood education and teaching, child development, parks, recreation and leisure studies, kinesiology and exercise science, or social work.
• The ideal candidate will have at least 2 to 3 years of experience in a related industry.
• The candidate must hold Emergency Child Care First Aid and CPR certification and must have completed Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis Training, as well as HIGH FIVE Training in the Principles of Healthy Child Development.
• The candidate must be punctual.
• The candidate should be dependable.
• The candidate should have efficient interpersonal skills.
• The candidate must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
• The candidate should have good judgmental skills.
• The candidate should be reliable.
• The candidate should be a good team player.
• The candidate should prioritize values and ethics.
• The candidate must be creative.
• The candidate must be honest.

• The candidate must provide immunization records.
• The candidate must undergo a vulnerable sector check.
