Job Description

  • The candidate must load, unload, and transport construction materials.
  • The candidate must be capable of erecting and dismantling concrete forms, scaffolding, ramps, catwalks, shoring, and barricades.
  • The candidate will be responsible for mixing, pouring, and spreading materials such as concrete and asphalt.
  • The candidate will be required to assist in the framing of houses, the erection of walls, and the construction of roofs.
  • The candidate must assist in the demolition of buildings.
  • The candidate must clean and pile salvaged materials.
  • The candidate must remove rubble and other debris from construction sites.
  • The candidate will be responsible for tending or feeding construction machines and equipment.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate should be fluent in English language.
  • There are no standard education requirements such as a bachelor’s degree, a certificate, or a diploma.
  • The ideal candidate will have at least 1 to 2 years of experience in a related industry.
  • The candidate must be able to lift more than 45 kg (100 lbs)
  • The candidate should be accurate.
  • The candidate should be dependable.
  • The candidate should have effective interpersonal skills.
  • The candidate must have excellent oral communication skills.
  • The candidate should be reliable.
  • The candidate should be a good team player.
  • The candidate must be hardworking.

Work site environment

  • The candidate will be required to work long hours in an outdoor environment.
  • The candidate must be able to work at heights.
  • The candidate will be required to work in confined spaces.
  • The work site environment is noisy, and the candidate must be able to work with complete concentration even in such conditions.
  • The candidate must be able to work in dusty and hot conditions.

Work setting

  • The candidate should work in various locations when employees are scattered across different worksites.
  • The candidate should work in a rural area; most people live or work on farms or ranches. Hamlets, villages, towns, and other small settlements are in or surrounded by rural areas.
  • The candidate must work on construction sites.

Credentials

Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses

  • The candidate must have Personal protective equipment (PPE) training certification and a Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate.

Apprenticeship training

  • The candidate must have completed pre-apprenticeship training as well as level one, level two, level three, and level four apprenticeship training.

Experience and specialization

Equipment and machinery experience

  • The candidate must have experience operating various equipment and machinery, including concrete vibrators, reciprocating saws, circular saws, concrete saws, mortar and concrete mixers, chippers, jackhammers, air compressors, air guns, nail guns, drills, chain saws, compactors, sledgehammers, and hand tools.

Construction specialization

  • The candidate must be skilled in the construction of driveways, residential projects, and poured concrete.

Specialization or experience

  • The candidate must be knowledgeable about the green economy sector.

Additional information

Security and safety

  • The candidate must be bondable.

Transportation/travel information

  • The candidate must have their own transportation.
  • The candidate must have a valid driver’s licence.

  • The candidate should be able to work in fast-paced busy environment.
