Miclex Construction Inc. based in Calgary, AB, is looking for candidates for the position of Carpenter with 2 vacancy. The ones chosen to be employed will be required to start work as soon as possible. The vacancies refer to that of permanent employment and a full time job. The shift will extend from day to evening to night to early morning and morning and may be required to work during the weekend.

Job description

  • The candidate will be required to prepare layouts in conformance to building codes.
  • The candidate will be required to use measuring tools.
  • The candidate will be required to read and interpret blueprints, drawings and sketches.
  • The candidate will be required to determine specifications and calculate requirements.
  • The candidate will be required to measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials.
  • The candidate will be required to supervise other workers.
  • The candidate will be required to schedule and co-ordinate work on sites.
  • The candidate will be required to instruct apprentices.
  • The candidate will be required to own tools, safety equipment/gear, steel-toed safety boots, hard hat.
  • The candidate will be required to supervise 1 to 2 people.
  • The work setting is commercial.
  • The major work area will be Renovation and Construction.
  • The work site environment is at a height and noisy.
  • The work location is in various places.

Requirements

  • The candidate does not require any degree, certificate or diploma
  • The candidate should have an experience of at least 5 years or more.
  • The candidate should have credentials of 4th Period Apprentice, 1st Period Apprentice, 2nd Period Apprentice, 3rd Period Apprentice, Carpenter Trade Certification, Personal protective equipment (PPE) training.
  • The candidate should have their own transportation.
  • The candidate should have excellent oral communication skills.
  • The candidate should have interpersonal awareness.
  • The work will involve a combination of sitting, standing and walking which the candidate should be comfortable with.
  • The candidate should be able to manage tight deadlines.
  • The candidate should be able to work under pressure.
  • The candidate should be able to handle repetitive tasks.
  • The candidate should be able to handle heavy loads.
  • The work will be physically demanding and hence the candidate should be comfortable with it.
  • The candidate should pay attention to detail.
  • The candidate will be required to stand for extended periods and hence should be comfortable with it.
  • The candidate should be organized.
  • The candidate should have values and ethics.
  • The candidate should have clarity of judgement.
  • The candidate should be accurate.
