Job Description

  • An expert consultation position that assists Royal Bank of Canada advisors in giving personalized advice to business owner clients regarding tax, estate, succession and overall wealth planning.
  • It is about working together within a variety of highly experienced and diverse professionals including lawyers, accountants, and valuators.
  • It also means being a part of the high-performing, modern, and client-centric initiatives of the team.
  • It will also be a chance for you to have meaningful networking with clients and internal partners.
  • It is a full-time position of 37.5 hours per week in the Royal Bank of Canada Wealth Management platform.

Responsibilities

  • Gather and study the information about family, business, financial, trust, and legal matters.
  • Review the client’s goals and design tax, estate, succession, and legacy strategies.
  • Provide objective planning advice and work with the client’s Royal Bank of Canada advisor to come up with solutions.
  • Develop planning, tax, succession, estate, and philanthropic advice.
  • Work closely with lawyers, accountants, M&A, and insurance.
  • Create memos/PowerPoints that are ready for the client and will help in the discussions about the implementation.

Requirements

  • A university degree is required along with a designation: CPA, LL.B/JD, or CBV.
  • After that, a minimum of 12 years of experience in the field of Canadian private corporate tax, estate & succession planning, and related areas will be required.
  • Strong technical knowledge of private wealth strategies and current trends will be needed.
  • In addition, excellent interpersonal, communication, and client-facing skills, as well as being a self-starter, are necessary.
  • The candidate must be bilingual in English and French (required); knowledge of US cross-border matters will be an added advantage.
  • Professional credentials such as CPA In-Depth Tax, FEA, or FFI GEN certificates are desirable.
