Job Description

• The candidate must carry out manual tasks associated with janitorial, housekeeping, and custodial work during scheduled shifts.
• The candidate must perform assigned responsibilities within and around Municipal recreation facilities based on initial instructions.
• The candidate must carry out responsibilities under general supervision, with evaluations based on the effectiveness of the janitorial work performed.
• The candidate must report cleaning or maintenance issues promptly as part of assigned responsibilities.

Job Requirements

• The candidate must have completed Grade 10.
• The candidate must have custodial work experience supplemented by a Building Service Worker certificate or equivalent qualification.
• The candidate must have sound knowledge of the safety precautions, materials, methods, tools, and equipment used in janitorial work.
• The candidate must have sound knowledge of custodial procedures required to maintain facilities in a clean and sanitary condition.
• The candidate must have some knowledge of routine building maintenance and repair tasks.
• The candidate must have the ability to effectively understand oral and written instructions and work with minimal supervision on assigned shifts.
• The candidate must have the ability to deal effectively with user groups and the general public.
• The candidate must have the ability to prepare simple records and reports related to the work.
• The candidate must have the ability to plan work in order to complete tasks efficiently and effectively.
• The candidate is required to demonstrate skill in using and maintaining cleaning supplies and equipment, including carpet cleaning equipment.
• The candidate should possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, work well within a team environment, and maintain attention to detail.
• The candidate must hold a valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence issued in British Columbia.
