Job Description

  • The candidate will be responsible for managing operations in a remote and evolving park environment while ensuring effective service delivery.
  • The candidate will be responsible for completing field-based activities, coordinating program delivery, and providing leadership to team members.
  • The candidate must respond to visitor needs, resolve issues, and make effective decisions in a changing outdoor environment.
  • The candidate will apply resource management knowledge to ensure BC Parks programs operate smoothly and create a positive impact across the Cape Scott Area.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate must have an undergraduate degree in natural resource management, outdoor recreation management, or a related field such as biology, geology, natural resource management, recreational planning, forestry, or fisheries, along with three (3) years of related experience.
  • The candidate must have a two-year technical diploma in natural resource management, outdoor recreation management, or a related field, along with five (5) years of related experience.
  • The candidate must have secondary school graduation and a minimum of seven (7) years of related experience.
  • The candidate must have experience in natural resource management, including ecosystem management, fish and/or wildlife management, forestry management, invasive species management, natural resource inventory and research, environmental impact assessment, cultural resource management, First Nation agreement management, and/or parks and protected area management, with experience delivering recreation and conservation programs and services.
  • The candidate must have experience in outdoor recreation management, including outdoor recreation planning, outdoor recreation facility development, operation and/or maintenance of outdoor recreation facilities, and outdoor recreation service delivery.
  • The candidate must have experience with compliance and enforcement activities related to natural resource management or recreation management.
  • Preference may be given to applicants with experience in parks and protected area management, including the delivery of recreation and conservation programs and services through a broad range of activities and initiatives.
  • Preference may be given to applicants with experience in compliance and enforcement related to natural resource, cultural resource, or recreation management, including enforcement of legislation such as the Park Act and Wildlife Act.
  • Preference may be given to applicants with experience in budget management, including budget development, allocation, monitoring, and control.
  • Preference may be given to applicants with experience in contract management, including contract planning, tendering, award, monitoring, and evaluation.
  • Preference may be given to applicants with experience in human resource management, including recruiting, hiring, training, and supervising staff, volunteers, or project managers involved in program delivery.
  • The candidate must be located in British Columbia at the time of employment.
