Job Description

  • The candidate will be required to learn how to install, maintain, overhaul, and repair a wide range of mechanical equipment.
  • The candidate will be responsible for developing machining and millwright skills, including the proper use of materials, tools, and equipment.
  • The candidate will be required to learn and follow correct safety procedures, as well as understand the operation and maintenance requirements for various types of equipment such as generators, pumps, turbines, gates, cranes, and valves.
  • The candidate will be required to work primarily at generating stations, with some tasks performed outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • The candidate must be comfortable performing physically demanding work, including climbing steel ladders and structures, and handling tools, materials, and equipment that may be heavy or bulky.
  • The candidate will be expected to take pride in contributing to the restoration and maintenance of essential equipment, supporting reliable operations.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate must have completed secondary school graduation, including courses in English 12, Math 11, and Physics 11, or possess an equivalent or higher level of education at the college or university level.
  • The candidate must have certification of completion from a Trade Foundations course for Millwright, Machinist, or Fabricator, which will be accepted as equivalency for Math 11 and Physics 11.
  • The candidate must provide acceptable documentation where equivalent or higher status is claimed.
  • The candidate must provide proof that shows equivalency or a higher level of courses taken.
  • The candidate must provide either a letter from their place of education or instructor indicating the course(s).
  • The candidate must provide confirmation that the course(s) taken are considered equivalent to or better than a Grade 12 level.
  • The candidate must have a valid Class 5 BC driver’s license or higher, or an equivalent from other provinces with a clean driving record.
  • The candidate must be physically capable of performing the work.
  • The candidate must be in good overall health, including normal colour vision, adequate hearing and eyesight, and sufficient physical strength. A strong mechanical aptitude is also required.
