Job Description
- The candidate must learn to install, operate, diagnose, and repair electrical equipment within generating stations and substations throughout the electrical system.
- The candidate will be required to learn safe working procedures and proper use of tools, diagnostic equipment, and machinery required for the trade, building a strong foundational understanding before progressing to more complex assignments.
- The candidate will work safely in various environments, including generating stations and high-voltage substations, and may be required to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in inclement weather.
- The candidate must be able to operate and repair electrical controls and equipment that are software-driven.
- The candidate will gain the satisfaction and sense of accomplishment from restoring power to customers at any time of the day or night.
Job Requirements
- The candidate must have completed high school graduation with any English 12, Pre-Calculus 11, and Physics 11, or directly equivalent English, Math, and Physics courses taken at the college or university level.
- The candidate must provide supporting documentation from the educational institution or Ministry of Education when claiming equivalent or higher status in Math, English, and Physics courses.
- The candidate must hold a valid Class 5 BC driver’s licence or equivalent with a clean driving record.
- The candidate must be physically capable of performing demanding manual work.
- The candidate must be in good health, including adequate vision, hearing, strength, and normal colour vision.
- The candidate must demonstrate strong mechanical aptitude.
- The candidate must complete physical testing as part of the selection process.
- The candidate must have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- The candidate must be willing to learn and work in challenging environments across multiple locations.
