Job Description

  • The candidate must sweep, mop, scrub, and wax hallways, floors, and stairs.
  • The candidate must be able to use industrial vacuum cleaners to remove scraps, dirt, heavy debris, and other waste.
  • The candidate must empty trash cans and other waste containers.
  • The candidate must clean windows, interior walls, and ceilings.
  • The candidate will be responsible for making minor adjustments and repairs to heating, cooling, ventilation, plumbing, and electrical systems, as well as contacting tradespersons for significant repairs.
  • The candidate must perform minor repairs on appliances.
  • The candidate must perform safety and security checks.
  • The candidate must supervise other workers.
  • The candidate must move heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies.
  • The candidate must perform other routine maintenance jobs, such as painting and drywall repair.
  • The candidate must water and tend to plants, lawns, and/or gardens.
  • The candidate must clean and disinfect bathrooms and fixtures.
  • The candidate must work with minimal supervision.
  • The candidate must clean snow and ice from walkways and parking areas.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate should be fluent in the English language.
  • The candidate must hold a certificate of secondary (high) school graduation or possess equivalent experience.
  • The ideal candidate will have at least 1 to 2 years of experience in a related industry.
  • The candidate must hold a Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) certificate and a First Aid certificate.
  • The candidate must be able to handle a weight of up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
  • The candidate should be dependable.
  • The candidate must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • The candidate should be organized and flexible.
  • The candidate must be capable of acting independently and taking the initiative.
  • The candidate should have good judgmental skills.
  • The candidate should be reliable.

Work site environment

  • The candidate must be able to work in all weather conditions.

Experience and specialization

Equipment

  • The candidate must have experience in operating industrial vacuum cleaners/power sweepers, carpet cleaning machines, polishing machines, power tools, power lawn mowers, security systems, and snowblowers.

  • The candidate must have their own tools and steel-toed safety boots.
