Job Description
- The candidate will be responsible for adjudicating claims related to workplace physical injuries.
- The candidate will be responsible for making timely adjudication decisions, including disallows, through proactive information gathering and claim investigations in accordance with the Worker’s Compensation Act, policies, practices, and established standards.
- The candidate will be responsible for gathering information by telephone, analyzing information, determining relevant facts, and weighing evidence to make reasoned decisions in a timely manner.
- The candidate will be responsible for reviewing medical documentation and other evidence to determine workers’ eligibility for compensation benefits.
- The candidate will be responsible for communicating verbally and in writing with workers, employers, health care providers, and other representatives to ensure decisions are clearly communicated and understood.
- The candidate will be responsible for supporting individuals recovering from physical injuries by arranging benefit payments and appropriate treatment.
- The candidate will be responsible for ensuring employers are actively involved in supporting early return-to-work initiatives.
- The candidate will be required to consistently demonstrate the organizational behaviours expected of all WorkSafeBC employees, including being responsive, respectful, fair, collaborative, accountable, and forward thinking.
Job Requirements
- The candidate must demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and a high level of professionalism while providing empathic, tactful, respectful, and courteous service.
- The candidate must manage emotionally sensitive conversations while demonstrating a high level of personal resiliency.
- The candidate must apply strong organizational and time management skills to manage a high volume of claims.
- The candidate will be required to convey confidential information through verbal and written communication while exercising discretion and tact.
- The candidate will be required to seek clarification where conflicting facts or differing accounts are presented.
- The candidate must be able to work independently and in a team environment.
- The candidate must operate proficiently in a computerized environment using Microsoft Office software.
- The candidate must have completed Grade 12 and possess 5 years of experience making adjudicative decisions within the last 10 years, or hold a post-secondary diploma and have 24 months of experience making adjudicative decisions within the last 10 years.
- The candidate must demonstrate proficiency in a computerized environment using Microsoft Office software.
- The candidate should have excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
- The candidate will be required to hold a valid B.C. driver’s license.
- The candidate must confirm they are legally entitled to work in Canada.
