Job Description

  • The candidate will participate in a full-time (37.5 hours per week) 16-week paid job shadow program, including one or two rotations aligned with long-term career goals.
  • The candidate will complete onboarding and mandatory safety training during the first week at the Burnaby Head Office near Edmonds Skytrain Station.
  • The candidate will complete one or two job shadow rotations between weeks two and sixteen, potentially in areas such as Instructional Design, Training Operations, Contract Management, Customer Care, Operations, Engineering, Materials Management, Human Resources, or Indigenous Relations.
  • The candidate must ensure that safety remains the highest priority in every task.
  • The candidate will learn and demonstrate BC Hydro’s values in day-to-day activities.
  • The candidate must read, prepare, and maintain reports, including daily activity logs to track progress.
  • The candidate will perform assigned non-safety-sensitive tasks under the supervision of a qualified Manager or Supervisor in both office and technical environments.
  • The candidate will learn, under the guidance of BC Hydro mentors, how technical training programs can support their career development.
  • The candidate must be prepared to learn about the benefits of working within the MoveUP Union.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate must have a High School Diploma, Adult Dogwood, or GED equivalent.
  • The candidate must have completed a combination of Grade 11 or 12 high school or post-secondary courses such as Applied Design, Skills and Technologies (ADST 12), Business Computer Applications, Information and Communication Technology, Computer Sciences, Data Entry, Records Management, Foundations or Pre-Calculus Math, and Physics.
  • The candidate must have a combination of education and/or experience in technical, administrative, or customer service roles.
  • The candidate must be comfortable using computers, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • The candidate must be capable of performing non-safety-sensitive work in office or technical environments.
  • The candidate must identify as Indigenous (First Nations Status or Non-Status, Inuit, or Métis).
  • The candidate must be available to participate for the full 16-week duration of the program.
  • The candidate should have access to reliable transportation.
