Job Description

  • The candidate must maintain professionalism in customer service.
  • The candidate must drive as part of a two-person team or convoy.
  • The candidate must operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials.
  • The candidate must inspect the vehicle’s condition, including the brakes, tires, lights, and other essential components.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate should be fluent in the English language.
  • The candidate must have a certificate of a Secondary (high) school graduation or equivalent experience.
  • The ideal candidate will have at least 1 to less than 7 months of experience in a related industry.
  • The candidate must have an AZ class license and a Driver’s License (Class 1 or A).
  • The candidate must be able to handle a weight of up to 9 kg (20 lbs).
  • The candidate must have excellent oral communication skills.
  • The candidate should have good judgmental skills.
  • The candidate should be reliable.

Work setting

  • The candidate must work in various locations to support employees stationed at different worksites.

Experience and specialization

Documentation knowledge

  • The candidate must be knowledgeable about accident or incident reports, bill of lading, driver logbooks, inspection reports (pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip), trans-border documentation and trip reports.

Type of trucking and equipment

  • The candidate must have experience in operating dry bulk, refrigerated, and tractor-trailer trucks.

Communication systems experience

  • The candidate must have experience operating GPS (Global Positioning System) and other navigation equipment, as well as trip recorders (on-board computers).

Transportation/travel experience

  • The candidate must have transportation/travel experience at the national, provincial/territorial, and regional levels.
  • The candidate must have both long-haul and short-haul travel experience.

  • The candidate must undergo a criminal record check, a driverโ€™s validity licence check, and a driving record check (abstract).

Transportation/travel information

  • The candidate must have a valid driver’s licence.
  • The candidate must be willing to travel across borders.
  • The candidate must be willing to travel for extended periods of time.
  • The candidate must be willing to travel overnight.

  • The candidate should be willing to work for long hours in sitting positions.
