Job Description

  • The candidate will be responsible for designing risk-based quality surveillance strategies for transmission and distribution (T&D) equipment and materials.
  • The candidate will be responsible for establishing acceptance criteria, reviewing and commenting on manufacturer test plans, and designing risk-based quality surveillance strategies for system hardware and equipment.
  • The candidate must be comfortable working in manufacturing facilities and apply knowledge of test specifications and standards to ensure compliance.
  • The candidate will be responsible for leading the resolution of non-conformities.
  • The candidate will work closely with engineering teams, supply chain, materials management, contract management, and suppliers to ensure purchased materials and services meet contractual requirements.
  • The candidate will be responsible for managing supplier relationships by evaluating proposals, conducting supplier evaluations and surveillance activities, and monitoring supplier improvement plans.
  • The candidate will be responsible for preparing reports, memos, and requirements documents.
  • The candidate will review the work completed by team members, consultants, and contractors to ensure accuracy, required results, and compliance with accepted engineering practices.
  • The candidate will be responsible for providing engineering guidance and encouraging the professional growth of engineers and technical staff.
  • The candidate will apply business knowledge, communication skills, and technical expertise to deliver efficient and technically acceptable solutions when addressing challenges.
  • The candidate must be self-motivated and able to work on multiple concurrent projects.
  • The candidate will analyze data to assess supplier performance.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate must be registered as a Professional Engineer with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC) or be immediately eligible for registration.
  • The candidate must hold a degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • The candidate must have a minimum of eight (8) years of relevant work experience.
  • The candidate must demonstrate strong data analysis and analytical skills.
  • The candidate must possess strong computer skills.
  • The candidate must have experience communicating effectively with a variety of audiences through both written and verbal communication.
  • The candidate must possess strong technical writing skills.
  • The candidate must demonstrate strong problem-solving skills.
  • The candidate must demonstrate adaptability, flexibility, and a proactive approach to work.
  • The candidate must demonstrate the ability to use initiative and sound judgment to develop and implement solutions that address business and technical requirements.
  • The candidate with experience in manufacturing and process control will be considered an asset.
  • The candidate will be considered an asset if they have experience with quality processes and practices relating to equipment manufacturing in custom and/or high-volume production environments.
  • The candidate with knowledge of quality assurance methodologies and statistical process control will be considered an asset.

  • The candidate will be considered an asset if they have experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, including SAP, and their application to inspections and supplier oversight.
  • The candidate must hold a valid Class 5 driver’s license.
