Job Description
- Project Manager (Visitor Experience) is a full time permanent position that leads visitor experience projects across Toronto’s destination parks.
- The role supports projects involving events, partnerships and business growth and visitor engagement.
- The role offers competitive pay and is based at Toronto City Hall.
- You will work with City teams, Indigenous partners, businesses and public sector partners on visitor experience initiatives.
- The position focuses on creating welcoming park experiences through strategic planning and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Identify and support new business initiatives that improve visitor experiences and long term park success.
- Plan, deliver and review projects, events and visitor programs from start to finish.
- Support visitor experience plans and destination park strategies.
- Review visitor feedback, participation data and performance results to improve services.
- Manage project budgets, contracts, revenue tracking and spending.
- Prepare project plans, business cases, reports and briefing notes and recommendations.
- Oversee agreements and contracts and partnership arrangements.
- Work with internal and external partners to support marketing and promotional work.
- Research visitor trends, industry practices and new ideas for destination parks.
- Lead project teams and coordinate work across divisions and partner groups.
- Represent the division at meetings with senior leaders and elected officials and partners.
- Prepare reports and presentations for City Council.
- Provide guidance to staff, consultants and contractors and project teams.
Requirements
- Post secondary education in visitor experience, customer experience, tourism, destination management, event management, business, public administration, communications, recreation, urban planning, hospitality, marketing or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work background.
- Solid work background leading complex visitor experience, tourism, destination management, event management, partnership development or business development projects.
- Solid work background applying visitor experience, customer experience, service design or destination management principles to improve programs and services.
- Solid work background using visitor feedback, research and performance data to review results and support informed decisions.
- Solid work background working with government agencies, Indigenous groups, cultural institutions, tourism companies, businesses, sponsors and other partners.
- Strong knowledge of visitor experience, destination management, tourism, recreation, public space activation and industry trends.
- Can identify and support partnerships, sponsorships and revenue generating initiatives.
- Can establish performance measures, review outcomes and improve services over time.
- Excellent interaction, presentation and relationship building skills can work with senior leaders, elected officials, partners and the public.
- Strong strategic thinking skills that can develop practical and creative solutions.
- Strong project management, planning and problem solving skills can manage several priorities and complex projects.
- Well versed in MS Suite.
- Knowledge of municipal legislation, procurement, occupational health and safety and labour relations is an asset.
- Can work including evenings, weekends and holidays when required.
