Job Description
- The candidate must serve as the primary representative for BC Parks, providing front-line visitor contact and supporting park program delivery.
- The candidate must handle responsibilities related to natural and cultural resource management, facility maintenance, compliance and enforcement, public safety, and emergency response.
- The candidate may be required to supervise staff and volunteers, manage projects and contracts, and contribute to park and recreation management planning based on operational needs.
Job Requirements
- The candidate will be required to hold an undergraduate degree in Natural Resource Management (e.g., recreation planning and/or management, biology, geology, forestry, fisheries, geography, environmental studies, etc.) with six months’ experience, or an Outdoor Recreation Management related degree with 6 months’ directly related experience.
- The candidate must have completed a related degree or two year diploma in Outdoor Recreation Management or a Natural Resource Management related field, along with 12 months’ related experience.
- The candidate must have secondary school graduation (or equivalent) along with 2 years’ related experience in areas such as park operations, conservation, outdoor recreation, forestry, earth sciences, recreation planning, or public safety/enforcement.
- The candidate must have experience in natural resource management (e.g., ecosystem, fish and/or wildlife, forestry, invasive species, inventory and research, environmental impact assessment), cultural resource management (e.g., archaeological or cultural site management), First Nation agreement management, and/or parks and protected area management involving recreation and conservation programs and services including facility management, park operations, and compliance and enforcement.
- The candidate must have experience in outdoor recreation management, including outdoor recreation planning, facility development, operation and/or maintenance of outdoor recreation facilities, and service delivery.
- The candidate must have experience in compliance and enforcement related to natural resource or recreation management.
- The candidate must be located in British Columbia at the time of employment.
