Job Description

  • The candidate will demonstrate innovative design leadership by creating breakthrough products across various categories, including performance, gender-fluid, knits, wovens, tops, and bottoms, while staying true to the lululemon ethos.
  • The candidate will attend fit sessions with an obsessive attention to detail to ensure every stitch is perfect and lead the design process from conceptualization to final product, ensuring excellence in performance, function, and aesthetics.
  • The candidate must demonstrate collaborative problem-solving by partnering with Research, Concept Creation, Raw Materials, and Product Innovation teams to ideate, refine, and evolve design concepts, while pushing the boundaries of what’s possible.
  • The candidate will be responsible for pressure-testing assumptions by overseeing design processes including wear-testing, validation, and material development, ensuring rigorous testing and refinement to meet lululemon’s high standards.
  • The candidate will be responsible for storytelling and communication through compelling presentations that showcase design innovation, using narratives, toolboxes, and frameworks to bring concepts to life for key stakeholders.
  • The candidate is required to share expertise with teammates, helping them develop their design skills and fostering a collaborative, knowledge-sharing culture that elevates the entire team.
  • The candidate will work alongside cross-functional teams, including Concept Creation, Technical Design, Research, and Labs, to ensure seamless integration of new ideas into the product pipeline.
  • The candidate will drive commercial success by focusing on creating commercially viable innovations that resonate with guests and align with lululemon’s strategic business goals.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate must have a deep passion for creating innovative, performance and functionally led apparel that redefines the on-body experience of athletic apparel.
  • The candidate must have expertise in product construction, trims, materials, and apparel manufacturing with a keen eye for the finest details.
  • The candidate must have a collaborative mindset, eager to work across teams to bring ideas to life.
  • The candidate must have experience in leading the design process from concept to final product, including pressure testing, wear-testing, and material development.
  • The candidate must have strong communication skills with the ability to present complex ideas in a clear, inspiring way.
  • The candidate must have a commitment to continuous learning and knowledge sharing to help elevate the team’s collective talent.
  • The candidate must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Apparel Product Design, Fashion Design, Industrial Design, or a related field.
  • An advanced degree or equivalent experience is preferred.
  • The candidate must have a minimum of 5+ years of experience in the performance apparel industry.
  • The candidate must have high-profile communication and influencing skills, including the ability to interact and update leaders on status to ensure alignment.
  • The candidate must have expert knowledge of performance apparel and sport bra design, construction, and manufacturing.
  • The candidate must have a proficient understanding of guest and elite athlete product needs, design, construction, and product creation best practices, along with expertise in development time management and strong communication skills.
  • The candidate must have high-profile communication skills and the ability to interact with key internal business stakeholders and partners.
  • The candidate must adjust to changing circumstances and adapt to ensure product creation excellence.
  • The candidate must have an in-depth understanding of the innovation creation calendar dates and gates, with the ability to adjust direction based on compressed timelines, athlete needs, and business needs.
  • The candidate must be able to travel 30% of the time.
  • The candidate must have experience in Illustration, 3D rendering (CLO), Apparel Design, Material/Textile, Technical Design, Pattern and fit, Manufacturing and production, Adobe Creative Suite, Prototype fitting, AI tools – prompting and knowhow, Technical drawing and specification package creation, and Presenting creative concepts.
