Alberta health services Post has released a notification in which they’re inviting candidates for the post of Alberta health services. Candidates will assist with ensuring that ambulances or other Emergency Medical Services (EMS) vehicles. They treat patients by administering minor medications, basic life support (BLS) airway adjuncts, and semi-automated defibrillation.

Job description

  • Candidates will transport ill or injured patients from scenes of emergency and/or between facilities. 
  • Candidates lead the BLS crew in delivering clinical care during patient transport or at emergency scenes. 
  • They will also assist with ensuring that ambulances or other Emergency Medical Services (EMS) vehicles, such as transfer vans, are properly stocked and equipped.
  • Candidates requires the proof of the successful completion of the Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.) test.

Job requirement

  • Candidates must have completion of an accredited Primary Care Paramedic program.
  • They must have active registration with Alberta College of Paramedics (ACP) as Primary Care Paramedic. 
  • They also must have current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP).
  • They must have completed the Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.) test taken no more than six (6) months prior to the application date. 
  • Candidates must be good at active Casual in the North Zone.
  • They must be good at additional education-related to EMS or professional competencies of leadership or communication. 
  • They should be willing to orient entry-level candidates with an interest in the North Zone. 

Work setting

  • They also may treat patients by administering minor medications, basic life support (BLS) airway adjuncts, and semi-automated defibrillation.
  • Candidates hold a valid Class 4 Alberta Operator’s Licence with no more than six (6) demerits.
  • Candidates must have experience with EMS: practices and procedures in the North Zone, within the past (3) years; working in a suburban/rural emergency environment, within the past (3) years; working in an inter-facility transport environment; in patient care in a clinical or pre-hospital setting.
